RISK PROFILE
According to the World Bank, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is the world’s 5th most populous country, with an estimated population of approximately 251.3 million as of 2024. It is located at the crossroads of South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East, sharing borders with India, Afghanistan, Iran, and China, and has a coastline along the Arabian Sea. Geographically, Pakistan is highly diverse, ranging from the mountainous north (home to some of the world’s highest peaks) to fertile plains, deserts, and a long coastline. The country is highly vulnerable to natural disasters and climate change, ranking among the top 10 countries most affected by extreme weather events.
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) joined CBI in 2026, establishing a structured channel for private sector participation in humanitarian preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience. As a CBI Member Network, the FPCCI will map private sector resources, expertise, and support capacities in the country, and establish national and provincial coordination platforms. With preparedness as another area of focus, FPCCI and OCHA will organize orientation sessions and simulation sessions. One goal is to develop 72-hour business activation protocols to improve crisis resilience.
